Coalition Publica is launching a scholarship program for undergraduate and graduate students registered at a Canadian university. The scholarship program supports research projects that study the scholarly communication and research dissemination system, or apply digital humanities methods.

Three types of scholarships are offered :

  • PhD ($20 000)
  • Master’s Thesis ($10 000)
  • Bachelors: to develop term papers into research articles ($500)

Applications should be submitted by May 15, 2021, in English or French. Applications will be evaluated on the basis of the relevance of their research objectives and their originality. Scholarships will be granted in accordance with the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion.

William Roy, an Open Scholarship Services Librarian at Queen's, expresses the benefits of this opportunity in the following statement:

"Journals that join Coalition Publica benefit from being part of an important research dissemination consortium with the capacity to reach new markets around the world, and also receive support from their cost-effective professional publishing services, as well as financial contributions from the Partnership for Open Access.

Last year, one of our open journals hosted by Queen’s University Library – Encounters in Theory and History of Education - successfully became the first Queen’s journal to receive funding from Coalition Publica. As a result, the journal has been able to extend the reach of their content through indexing in Érudit, one of Canada’s largest Social Sciences and Humanities databases."
