Enhanced Security at Stauffer for St. Patrick's Day

As many in the campus and local commnuities are aware, Queen’s University is implementing enhanced security for several campus venues throughout St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2023, in alignment with Queen’s Alcohol Policy. Queen's University Library (QUL) supports these measures toward ensuring safety for patrons and staff, as well as maintaining the welcoming experience our library locations are known for.

In response to the potential for large unsanctioned gatherings in the near-campus neighbourhood on Friday, March 17th, extra security will be in place to ensure no unauthorized alcohol is brought into Joseph S. Stauffer Library, Mitchell Hall, Queen’s Centre, or the Athletics and Recreation Centre.

Individuals showing visible signs of over-intoxication or who appear to be carrying open alcohol while entering or using these university facilities may, at the discretion of security personnel, be asked to open bags for visual inspection, so security can verify no containers of alcoholic beverages are being brought into the facilities.  Bag checks would only occur in these circumstances.

These enhanced security measures may be extended through Saturday, March 18, if conditions warrant.

QUL values, and appreciates the cooperation of the Queen’s community as we work together for a safe and inclusive campus environment.
