Global Encounters: New Visions Journal, Call for Submissions

The Global Encounters: New Visions Journal of the Department of Geography and Planning is seeking submissions from current students for its first issue.

Global Encounters: New Visions is published by the Department of Geography and Planning at Queen’s University, and is the re-imagined journal from the department that ended in 2006. This year, the journal will begin in an informal manner with peer-reviewed publications from current university students.

This journal is managed by graduate students in the Geography department and aims to provide undergraduate students with a publishing opportunity and give graduate students a chance to develop mentorship and editing experience. This will provide additional opportunites for students to get involved and build their academic careers.

The journal is seeking:

  • Essays from previous coursework
  • Maps
  • Book reviews
  • Previews
  • Policy Recommendations
  • Graphic work
  • Academic reflections

The submission deadline is December 31, 2020.

Students can make more than one submission. Email any submissions with the field of geography/keywords, type of submission, and course level (if applicable) to: Kim & Hilal.
