Inquiry @ Queen's Returns for 2023

Inquiry @ Queen’s is back! March 9-10 2023 will see the 17th annual undergraduate research conference return to an in person format for the first time since 2020. Queen’s University Library (QUL) is delighted to once again be hosting this unique and impactful event in Joseph S. Stauffer Library, and all are welcome to attend.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Misinformation: Rogue Inquiries”, which seeks to explore and understand the causes and impacts of the emergence of incorrect, often misleading information proliferated on a mass scale for society, culture, and the lived experience of individuals. Misinformation and disinformation are so prevalent that the question needs to be asked whether it is in fact now the norm, while truth and facts are the rogue actors.

Are you an undergraduate student who has (individually or as part of a group) conducted research related in any way to misinformation or disinformation? Do you have an interesting, unique, or possibly rogue inquiry about its impact on life and society? As the problem-solving scholars of the next generation, we’d love to hear more about your research at the I@Q Conference. The Call for Proposals for this year's conference is now open!

I@Q is more than a conference; it is an approach to learning where the teacher and the learner reside in the same person. It is a natural extension of a university that prides itself on the quality of undergraduate education and its scholarship and research. It is the signature learning experience at Queen's University.

In a world of ubiquitous and competing information, the ability to pose critical questions and forge a path to answer them has never been more important. Students who engage in inquiry projects are better able to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information; develop discipline-specific research skills; persist and make intellectual and personal gains; demonstrate greater problem-solving and research skills; and are more satisfied with their overall educational experience.

Those seeking more information on this exciting opporunity for sharing research and learning from colleagues can check out the 2022 I@Q Conferrence Proceedings

Please note: "Misinformation: Rogue Inquiries" may be the theme for the conference, but applicants are encouraged to submit research on any topic.
