Library expands curbside pickup service

The library is pleased to open our curbside pickup service to all current Queen’s students, faculty, and staff using the Request feature in our Omni search tool. Materials will be retrieved on a first-come, first-serve basis, and users will be notified by email when their item(s) are available for pickup.

Patrons may borrow regularly circulating materials for the normal loan period.  Items available through the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service are not eligible for the curbside pickup service, as per HathiTrust’s terms of use.

In addition to the curbside pickup service, the library continues to offer access to a wide variety of electronic materials discoverable through our Omni search tool, subject guides, and database of online resources. The library has also activated online access to over 860,000 items held in print through the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service and several temporary free offers from vendors due to the closure of library facilities.

We appreciate your patience with our more limited initial curbside pickup service, which allowed us to fill the most urgent research-related needs for print materials as we established and tested our safety protocols, which are aligned with provincial and federal legislation and local public health directives currently limiting access to Queen’s campus.

For any questions, please contact your subject librarian or connect with the library through the AskUs service.  Updates continue to be posted on the library’s covid-19 page.
