We are thrilled to announce that with funding from NSERC, and in partnership with the Education Community Outreach Centre, Science Literacy Week 2020 at Queen’s will feature a Scientific Writing Workshop for graduate students, titled Writing for Publication.

This virtual workshop is hosted by award-winning scientist and author, Dr. Lindsey Carmichael, who will help students elevate their scientific writing to a professional standard. Her workshop will focus on key components of scientific journal articles, such as: purpose and audience, structure and organization, and making compelling arguments.

The workshop will be held via Zoom on Sept 23, 8:30-10:30 am (EDT) and will include time for hands-on practice and questions. Students can register with their NetID through Eventbrite. Registration is free and details for accessing the event will be sent through a confirmation email. Registration closes Sept 21 at 11:30 pm (EDT). As preparation for the session, students are encouraged to read a journal article which will be supplied in advance. Dr. Carmichael and workshop participants will annotate this article together during the workshop.
