Union Gallery Seeking Proposals for Summer 2022 Public Art Project

Post Date:

Union Gallery is seeking proposals for its Summer 2022 public art project, From One Place to Another: Wandering Art. This project is funded by the City of Kingston Arts Fund (CKAF): Adapt Grant through the Kingston Arts Council.

From One Place to Another: Wandering Art takes the playful form of a "gallery-on-wheels" to present new work by local artists in Katarokwi-Kingston on a city-wide tour. The tour of selected artist projects and supplementary programming will take place throughout July–August 2022 with a digital publication launch in September 2022.

Union Gallery will provide the successful applicants with a paid opportunity to research, produce, and present new work via the Wandering Art Station. Each selected proposal will also be supplemented by a public program (i.e. workshop, artist talk, performance, etc.). Artists are invited to consider the WAS as both a station for site research and a platform for public artwork. Ideal projects will be committed to thinking about site-specificity, territory and environment, audience, community and publics.

Deadline to Apply: February 18, 2022, 5pm EST.

Who Can Apply:

This call is open to professional artists, duos and collectives based in Katarokwi-Kingston, Ontario. A professional artist is someone who has specialized training in their artistic field (not necessarily in academic institutions), who is recognized by their peers as such, is committed to their artistic activity, and has a history of public presentation. Only one proposal per applicant will be considered.

If you’re interested in submitting a proposal please use the Submission Form. If you have any questions, or require accommodations during the proposal process, please reach out: ug.wanderingartstation@gmail.com / ugallery@queensu.ca / Phone: 613.533.3171
