Suspensions & Appeals

Suspensions

It is the borrower's responsibility to regularly check the status of her/his Library account online, to ensure that the account is in good standing. The online account information is always up-to-date.

Overdue fines and other Library charges should be paid as soon as possible. For all patrons, outstanding charges above specified Account Limits, as well as failure to return overdue or recalled material, will lead to a "block" on the borrower's record and suspension of all borrowing privileges. Once the outstanding items have been returned and fines paid, normal borrowing privileges are restored.

Appeals

Questions concerning fines and other charges should be directed initially to the Information desk of the Library where the charge was incurred. Any unresolved issues may be appealed, during normal office hours, to the Head, Information Services in Stauffer Library. The next level of appeal is to the Associate University Librarian. Final appeal must be made through the University grievance procedures established in the Queen's University Senate Policy on Student Appeals, Rights & Discipline.
