Advancing and promoting greater integration of Open Educational Resources (OERs) is one of the fundamental components of Queen’s University Library’s (QUL) new strategic plan. Thus, QUL is excited to share the eCampus Ontario Open Library's call for OER editors for summer and fall 2023 terms. As part of the Integrating OER Program, Open Library is seeking editors for OERs in an effort to edit and improve 100 OERs over the coming months.

Summer 2023 Deadlines

  • Apply to become an OER Editor - Summer: August 10, 2023
  • Submit your updated files - Summer: September 15, 2023
  • Stipend for Summer Term Editors released Summer October 13, 2023

Fall 2023 Deadlines

Ontario OER project teams are eligible to participate as editors. Editors commit to receiving feedback and making edits to their OER in response to feedback received through peer review. After submission of the updated OER files, editors will receive an honorarium of $1000 per OER project in recognition of the time spent on improving the quality of the resource. More information can be found in the OER Editor’s Commitment and through the Integrating OER Program page on the Open Library website or you can watch this short video.

OER Editors must:

• Be affiliated with a publicly-assisted college, university or Indigenous institute within the province of Ontario.

 • Identify one project team author to lead OER updates and receive funding directly. One grant is provided per project and cannot be subdivided.

 • Apply to be a participant of the program by the deadline.

 • Review all completed peer reviews for their OER and give due consideration to any feedback received. • Submit updated and edited OER files to the Open Library by the program deadline.

The Integrating OER Program leads the Ontario postsecondary sector in the discovery, engagement, use, and continuous improvement of the Open Library Collection in eCampusOntario’s Open Library. The Open Library Collections make a wide variety of OER available to eligible Ontario educators and learners.

The eCampusOntario Open Library provides educators and learners with access to more than 1,200 free and openly-licensed educational resources. The library was launched in 2017 in partnership with BCcampus. Since then, eCampusOntario has been continually improving the library to meet the needs of Ontario’s postsecondary educators and learners. Thanks to the Open Publishing Infrastructure Project, a joint effort between eCampusOntario, and Toronto Metropolitan University (Formerly Ryerson University), the library is now integrated with publishing infrastructure, allowing for the easy creation or adaption of OER. eCampusOntario has also supported enhancements to the PressbooksEDU platform, including the integration of H5P interactive content, version tracking, and cloning support.
