Welcome! Queen's University Archives manages, preserves, conserves, and makes accessible the information assets and historical record of the University in support of the teaching, research, service, and administration interests of Queen's University.  As well it has private papers related to Kingston and the region, and houses the City of Kingston Archives.

A long archival tradition exists at Queen's University. The first archival document was presented to Queen's in 1869.

Items retrieved from the Archives may be viewed in the Reading Room.

The Archives houses approximately 10 kilometres of textual records, 2 million photographs, tens of thousands of architectural plans and drawings, and thousands of sound recordings and moving images.

The Archive’s physical collection is non-circulating, meaning that the items cannot be taken out of the building. The archives are stored in staff-only areas, and staff would be happy to retrieve these items for you.

Conservation is a fundamental responsibility of Queen’s University Archives.

A professional conservator directs a programme of preventive conservation and conservation treatment with the assistance of a conservation clerk.

Art Conservation students have engaged in unique opportunities conservation activities with the archival material available on campus.
