Open Education Resources: Call for Proposals 2024
Faculty members and instructors at Queen’s University are invited to submit a funding proposal to create or adapt Open Education Resources (OERs). The proposal deadline is Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Please see our OER webpage for the link to submit your proposal.
OERs are freely-accessible, and openly-licensed learning materials that can be adapted or re-used depending on instructors’ requirements. They make education more affordable and integrate more flexibility and practicality for instructors.
In recent years, Queen’s has funded more than two dozen new open textbooks that provide approximately $500,000 of savings per year for Queen's students.
Examples of recently completed OERs at Queen’s:
- Christa Bracci and Erica Friesen, Legal Research Online: Information Seeking in the Digital Environment. This text was published in 2024 and is being used in the course Law 321: Advanced Legal Research.
- Anya Hageman and Pauline Galoustian. Democracy & Economics. This text was published in 2024 and is being used in the course ECON 280: Population and Economic Change.
This year, the total amount awarded will be $30,000, with a $7,500 maximum award for each individual grant. Applicants can apply to create a new OER, or to adapt an existing OER, for use in a course at Queen’s University.
