Create Permanent Links to Online Articles
To save links to articles, use the publisher provided permanent link or DOI. Links from the browser's address bar are unreliable and often expire.
Locate Permanent Link or DOI in an Article
Look for words such as persistent URL, stable URL, infomark, permalink, document URL, durable link, or DOI.
- You can also search for a DOI at Free DOI Lookup.
- To use a DOI as a permanent link, it needs to be in this format: http://dx.doi.org/10.1021/ac0354342
To use any permanent link effectively, you will need to ensure the proxy is added for off-campus access.
Create a Proxied Link
In order to allow access from off-campus, you will need to add the “web proxy prefix” to the URL.
- For Permanent URLs, go to: Off-Campus Link Creator
- For DOIs, go to: Off-Campus & DOI Link Creator
Not every article will have a specified permanent link. In these cases you can try downloading and saving the article, or using the permanent link from Omni.
